GREAT RIDE -- GREAT FUN -- GREAT FELLOWSHIP

IFMR 2011 FALL GET-TOGETHER
SNOWSHOE, WV
The Inn at Snowshoe
October 14-16, 2011

Fall is fantastic and the riding is great in the mountains of West Virginia.

Mark your calendar for another great IFMR fall weekend get-together and ride in the spectacular Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. We’ve made arrangements for a great weekend including a 200 mile Saturday loop ride in the scenic Allegheny Highlands, fellowship dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings, and a farewell breakfast on Sunday morning.

ROOMS WILL BE SCARCE, SO MAKE RESERVATIONS NOW!!! Several colleges in the area are having their Homecoming on the same weekend, so many hotels/motels in the area are already booked solid. However, we’ve arranged for excellent lodging at a special IFMR rate of $64/night at the scenic Inn at Snowshoe, located just off WV 66 at the base of the mountain at Snowshoe Resort, which is about 50 miles south of Elkins, WV. For those who might prefer a B&B or condo instead, there are many in the area that can be found on-line. To make reservations, contact

The Inn at Snowshoe - 877-441-4386
10 Snowshoe Drive, Snowshoe, WV 26209

Be sure to mention our group code: IFMR. Rooms not reserved by October 1 will be released, so act now.

For those who want to arrive early or leave later in order to enjoy more of the Allegheny Highlands area, there are many other points of scenic, historic, and scientific interest in the area. For example, the Cass Scenic Railroad is just a few miles away, as is the National Radio Astronomy Center in Greenbank, WV.

For those of you who like to program the route into your GPS, or just like to get out your maps and study the route before the get-together, attached is a tentative route map of our Saturday loop ride. We’ll leave the Inn promptly at 9 AM and plan to return about 5 PM, with dinner at 6:30 PM at the Inn.

Mark your calendar, call now for room reservations, and plan to join us in Snowshoe. If you have questions or want more details, contact me at rshriner@aol.com or 540-349-8193. Otherwise, just let me know you plan to come so we can have a head-count for the meals. (Just hit REPLY, insert my email address in the TO block, and fill out the form below, delete this announcement text, then hit SEND.)

We'll look forward to seeing you there!!! And don't forget to pass the word to your friends and invite them to come with you.

IFMR FALL GET-TOGETHER -- October 13-16, 2011 in the Allegheny Highlands of VA and WV

Ron & Cena Simmons are putting together plans for another great fall get-together in the Allegheny Highlands of West Virginia. Details are still being worked out but the event will likely include an "early-bird" get-together on Thursday evening at Ron & Cena's place at Woodstock, VA (on I-81), a ride on Friday thru the spectacular Allegheny Highlands to the Friday-night get-together dinner and overnight stay at sensational Snowshoe Resort in WV. On Saturday they're working on plans to visit the New River Gorge Bridge and Gauley River area for some spectacular local activities, then eventually back to Woodstock thru the Seneca Rocks area. It's gonna be a "not to be missed" IFMR get-together during the height of fall foliage season in the Allegheny Highlands.

Full details on lodging, etc, will be coming soon. Meanwhile, mark your calendar and make plans to join us for a great weekend of riding, fun, and fellowship. Get together a group from your club. At our spring get-together back in May in Altoona, PA, we had riders who came from as far away as Ontario, Michigan, New York, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as from Pennsylvania.

:-) Bob

September 3, 2011 - The Second Annual NoPolio Rally in Folsom

Greetings:

Even though the following information has been posted to many of the online lists I would really appreciate your help in getting this out to as many riders as possible. Please copy and post to any lists you happen to be affiliated with and forward to any riders who may be interested in this event. Also, if you are a Rotarian, please get this information out to your various clubs and districts.

We are also looking for anyone willing to contribute to PolioPlus even though they may not be able to attend the event as well as sponsors to donate items for prizes at the banquet.

I have attached a flyer to this email for your use.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Bob Mutchler

622 Wales Drive
Folsom, CA 95630

Want to have motorcycling fun in Northern California on a Saturday?

Want to meet with other LDRiders and interested people and share the
spirit of the sport?

Want to help Bob Mutchler, PolioPlus and Rotary International eradicate
polio worldwide?

Then come to the second annual NoPolio rally in Folsom on September 3!

This is an 8-hour mini-rally and banquet to raise money for Polio Plus.
At 6:00 AM we'll hand out rally instructions, and you have to return to
the hotel by 3:00 to be a finisher. (Yes, we know that's 9 hours.) When
you get back we'll score you and kick tires, and then enjoy the banquet,
awards ceremony, and a panel discussion.

Our grand prize, for the largest donation to Polio Plus, is a coupon for
a free custom saddle from Rick Mayer Cycle. There will also be door prizes.

The guest speakers will be a distinguished panel of LDRiders telling
stories, answering questions, and sharing their love of the sport with
veterans and curious newbies alike. The panel will include Tom "Cal24"
Melchild and others.

For all the details, visit http://bestbits.org/nopolio and read all
about it!

We're asking $50 for the banquet and a separate tax-deductible donation
for PolioiPlus, minimum $50. Our Rally HQ hotel, The Hilton Garden Inn,
has a discount room rate that includes breakfast - details are on the
web site. Register early to be sure to get the discounted room rate.

Come on out Saturday, September 3 and have a great day in the Sierra hills!

August 13, 2011 the Kelowna Capri Rotary Club and Lake Country Rotary will be hosting a poker ride. Lots of great motorcycle roads (lots of curves and not too much traffic). Last year riders came from all across western USA and Canada. Now it's time to do it again!  Come and enjoy the ride!
